Privacy Policy for Odoo Field Inspector
Last updated: September 15, 2026
Odoo Field Inspector helps users inspect form fields, table columns, HTML attributes, selectors, and available Odoo field metadata.
Information the extension accesses
When you enable the inspector on a tab, it accesses page elements and information needed for inspection, including:
- Field labels, current and default values, HTML attributes, and table content.
- CSS selectors, XPath expressions, and HTML previews.
- Page resource request URLs and timing information to help detect the current Odoo model.
- Click and pointer events needed to select and highlight inspectable elements.
Inspected values may contain personal or sensitive information, such as names, contact details, passwords, financial information, health information, or messages, depending on the page and the field you select. The extension does not automatically exclude sensitive field values.
How information is used
Information is used only to provide the extension’s inspection features, display technical details, and copy inspection results when you request it. The extension does not modify form data.
Connection to your Odoo server
When an Odoo model and field are detected, the extension sends a read-only metadata request to the Odoo server hosting the current page. This request includes the detected model and technical field name.
Requests use your existing signed-in session. Your browser supplies the applicable session cookies; the
extension does not separately extract or store those cookies. Metadata availability depends on your
account’s permissions.
These metadata requests do not include the inspected field’s current or default value.
Storage and retention
Your inspection preferences are stored locally using Chrome’s extension storage and remain until removed or the extension is uninstalled.
Inspection results and cached Odoo metadata are held temporarily in page memory and are released when the page is unloaded, such as when you reload or close the tab.
If you copy inspection results, the information is placed on your clipboard and is then subject to your device’s clipboard settings and any application where you paste it.
Sharing and third parties
The extension does not send inspected page content or field values to the developer or to third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. It communicates with your current Odoo server as described above.
We do not sell user data. We do not use or transfer user data for purposes unrelated to the extension’s
single purpose, to determine creditworthiness, or for lending purposes.
Permissions
- activeTab: Provides access to the current tab when you activate the extension.
- scripting: Inserts the scripts and styles needed for inspection.
- storage: Saves your preferences locally.
The extension requests no persistent host permissions.
Your choices
You can enable or disable inspection from the extension popup, configure detection and highlighting, and choose whether to copy inspection results. Inspection starts disabled after a full page reload or navigation. Uninstalling the extension removes its locally stored preferences.
Changes to this policy
This policy will be updated when the extension’s data practices change. The date above identifies the
latest revision.
